The process of PSYCH‑K is known as a Balance. The basics are identifying the belief you want, internalise the belief through PSYCH‑K®, take action to create your new reality. A more detailed description of the Balance process can be found here.
The subconscious is everything that happens automatically that you’re not consciously aware of. Be it your breath, driving a car or typing your password without thinking, these are automatic processes in the subconscious. That is why you practice a sport – to hit the ball without thinking, it becomes automatic.
The subconscious is also much more than that. The subconscious holds beliefs about the world, people, and yourself. These beliefs are fundamental to how you see the world and how you act. If you think that you’re not enough, you will likely find in most aspects of your life something that reminds you that you’re not enough. This could be your family or intimate partner not valuing you, struggling to get promoted at work, being the friend that always puts in the effort and finds themselves left out of the group. These beliefs extend to every situation in life.
Think about the patterns in your life and what comes easy and what is difficult. Your most intimate relationships normally demonstrate this to you. Think about how you are with your parents, your loved one, your children and your close friends. Read more on identifying your patterns here.
Your beliefs create your reality, so changing them is a great way to alter the trajectory of your life, from one of struggle to one of peace and success. What does that mean? We can talk about the law of attraction, or we can just explain it logically. It is explained in more detail here.
Beliefs are formed through habit. When we are children we observe and mimic others because we are in a state that is largely receptive of suggestion. As we grow older, our beliefs become more concrete, though we add and change these through the repetition of thoughts and actions – habituation – whether deliberate or not. Over time, we become so habituated that our lives are almost automatically run, thinking the same thoughts and feelings – based on the same beliefs. Life becomes more difficult to change, sometimes having us describe our problems as ‘just how we are’.
There are exceptions that change beliefs and thus the course of our lives – through sudden shocks to the system (the loss of a loved one, a near‑death experience or some other major transformative experience), and through conscious a habit-forming activity using will-power (such as deciding to become a runner – getting off the couch and walking, then jogging, then eventually enjoying the process and desiring exercise). Of course, you can also have habit-forming behaviour that is negative, such as when a young man begins to drink at the age he is allowed to. He begins by only doing it on the weekend, but once he lives out of home and it is acceptable, he starts drinking most days. He builds a habit of drinking. Typically, such habits are associated with a negative self-belief, which can be changed, but the habit of drinking can become a belief in itself – to soothe oneself when life becomes challenging.
As mentioned above, subconscious beliefs are in the driver’s seat of your life, whether you know it or not. You have conscious choice, but you are almost always driven to action – or stopped in your tracks from acting – as a result of subconscious beliefs.
So, if you’re finding yourself in the same relationship, you’re stuck in a rut and can’t get out, you’re always running into some form of blockage in your life and you can’t quite figure out why, it’s likely that it’s not by chance that things consistently turn out how they do – it’s your subconscious beliefs.
PSYCH-K® originated from Rob Williams, who was a psychotherapist in the United States, was frustrated by the lack of change he was able to achieve with clients by using the standard counselling technique of combining insight with willpower. In some way or another, the light shone through, and after some refinement, PSYCH-K® was born. You can find links to his book on PSYCH-K® on the resources page that describe how PSYCH-K® came about.
Yes. It is sometimes hard to believe that it can have such a profound impact, either immediately after a Balance or down the track when you look at how you used to see the world and how you do now.
By changing your self‑limiting beliefs, you can change the trajectory of your life. You have made lots of decisions about your life based on your current beliefs. After you change your beliefs to something you actually want you will start to see things differently, make new choices, which will lead to different outcomes that align with how you really want to be.
It is important to know that PSYCH‑K® is not a substitute for professional medical treatment, rather it is often a complement to it. The PSYCH‑K® approach is about transforming limiting subconscious beliefs you may have that could be related to a physical condition. These beliefs are usually acquired in the early stages of your life and often persist into adulthood, below the level of your conscious awareness.
There is a well-established biological interaction between the mind and the body. That is where PSYCH‑K® may be of help to you. I am not medically qualified, and I cannot address your condition as a medical doctor would, using a diagnosis and treatment program. Nor should you resist seeing medical practitioners. In other words, with PSYCH‑K®, we do not diagnose or treat diseases. However, by using PSYCH‑K®, we can help you change subconscious beliefs that may be influencing your health and wellbeing, both mentally and physically.
Sometimes a condition can improve dramatically just by using PSYCH‑K®. While it is not possible to guarantee a specific result, which depends largely on the individual and his or her condition, PSYCH‑K® has a history of helping people achieve a satisfying and joyful life, mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually.
Sometimes it is obvious what your beliefs are and sometimes you may need some prompting, but ultimately it does not matter. In PSYCH‑K®, we focus on what is going on in your life and then identify what you would like instead. This way, we focus on the direction you’d like to go and insert the new belief to override whatever it was that was holding you back.
Having said that, it is useful to think about where your mind’s energy goes throughout the day, to identify your patterns and to consider where you’d like to be instead. Please refer to the section, ‘How can I prepare for the PSYCH‑K® journey?’ on the PSYCH‑K® sessions page.
I offer private one-on-one sessions using PSYCH-K® to change subconscious beliefs. This provides for a session, focused on you, to get the most appropriate change for you at the time. If you would like to start the journey of being able to do PSYCH-K® yourself, you can partake in one of the Basic workshops held all over the world. More details can be found on the PSYCH-K® International website.
PSYCH-K® can provide you with new beliefs that mean that you see the issues in your life in a different way. These beliefs can be anything, including self-belief, the belief about the past or beliefs around current relationships. For some people, this means lifting the emotional weight from an issue in their lives, for others, it doesn’t feel so powerful in the moment. Ultimately, the new beliefs generate new perspectives – new thoughts, feelings and behaviours – this leads you to new decisions. The more action you take with your new beliefs, the more the trajectory of your life is going to change. PSYCH‑K® is about aligning your subconscious with what you consciously want, removing the resistance that is holding you back.
PSYCH‑K is a simple, powerful and effective method to change subconscious beliefs. There are many modalities out there that allow for subconscious change. Some are very specific, and some take a broader approach.
PSYCH-K is reasonably specific. You focus in on your issue or belief based on your experience, understanding and innate wisdom, before identifying what you want instead and changing your belief. However, this can have broad and lasting effects, particularly if it is a highly charged self‑belief (or lack of it), such as beliefs around worthiness.
Other ways that can be effective include affirmations, listening to subliminal tapes when you sleep, particular types of meditation and other methods that require discipline and commitment to generate change. PSYCH-K® is such a great tool because it a ‘said and done’ experience, where you can be sure that you’ve made the change and can now take action.
There are perhaps broader and more intense, and in some ways, more invasive techniques to change the subconscious such as specific forms of hypnosis (such as Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique), breathwork and the use of psychedelics (like such as ayahuasca, psilocybin and lysergic acid diethylamide). These, in the right set and setting, can change the subconscious in that way that is profound.
You can expect to focus on the beliefs that you want in your life, based on the issues you’re facing. We agree that the session will be simple, powerful and effective and that you will remain open and curious throughout the session. Quite quickly, we determine what beliefs you would like given your circumstances and go through the Balance process. We see you are after the Balance then circle back to the original issue, to determine whether further belief change needs to be done. We continue this process until you are ready to move on. We also create action steps to signal to the subconscious that these new beliefs ought to become ‘active’, and provide certainty to the conscious mind that something has indeed changed. The more action you take, the greater change you will see in your life.
PSYCH-K is an easy process that anyone can do. You are not required to be a ‘spiritual’ person, live like a monk or meditate in the forest – not to say you shouldn’t also do those things. PSYCH-K® meets you where you’re at and helps you change your beliefs to how you’d like to be.
PSYCH-K works very well remotely. You take part in all of the Balance process, but the facilitator muscle tests on your behalf. In many ways, it is more efficient than in person!
Muscle testing, as used in kinesiology, is used as a ‘sandwich’ with the PSYCH-K belief change process in the centre – we muscle test for the absence of the belief before the change process, and muscle test again for the presence of the belief afterwards.
I offer initial sessions of 90 minutes. My experience is that this provides for sufficient time for the person to become familiar with the processes, get to the heart of an issue and feel that there is no need to rush.
In a session, we discuss the issue you are facing. Once it is defined, you decide what you would like instead. We turn what you want into a Goal Statement (in the form of an affirmation), then muscle test as to whether your subconscious already carries this new belief. If it does not, we follow the PSYCH-K® change process (there are different ‘Balances’ to achieve the same outcome), then we muscle test again to ensure the subconscious has taken on the new belief.
We celebrate and decide on action steps that provide assurance to the subconscious and the conscious mind, that the new belief is instilled. Finally, we circle back to the original issue to identify whether further Balances are required.
The best thing about PSYCH‑K is that just one session can provide profound changes in one’s life. Once your beliefs have been changed, we then encourage you to take action to enact these new beliefs to ensure you create a new reality.
Of course, if you’re after broader change in your life, the more Balances you experience, the greater the change that will occur. Like any kind of personal development, PSYCH‑K you can achieve more results with time and with more Balances, but it is up to you to see what works best for you.
Therapy (all kinds), can be extremely useful in dealing with challenging situations in life and dealing with past traumatic events. PSYCH-K is an excellent adjunct to therapy when you've discussed your issues in-depth and identified the beliefs, behavioural and thought patterns you experience but are struggling to change.
This is not WOOWOO, this is basic.
I was brought up a sceptic, studied philosophy (the harsh, argumentative type), economics and accounting, and have worked in very rational work environments. While logic and reason assist us in so many facets of our lives at the individual level and at a societal level, when it comes to what is holding us back and what challenges us, I think everyone accepts that different stresses affect people differently.
We've all had bosses we could work with easily while watching colleagues struggle as they cannot handle how the boss behaves (and vice versa). If we used logic and reason, we could all respond in our preferred way - but we don't.
Why is it that one person is more affected or stressed by an event or person than others? Some people can handle health issues easily but struggle at work. Some always have difficult relationships but can run a successful business.
We all have unique personalities based on our upbringing – based on our beliefs. Once we recognise what’s driving our struggles, we begin to see how we’d like to be instead. The final step is to change and PSYCH-K® is an excellent tool to facilitate that change.
